Pete Gibney

Peter Gibney is a Byron Bay photographer that delights in capturing the many facets of waves and surfers in the beautiful sundrenched north coast of New South Wales.
Based in Mullumbimby, Pete has a portfolio of photos almost as long as the waves at The Pass, which cover a myriad of subjects from surfing to sunrises and everything in between.

Pete spent the 3 days of the 2008 Byron Bay Malibu Classic under a hat on the beach catching almost all entrants in the event on at least one wave (usually more). The conditions were typical of the area that time of year - good longboard waves at Wategos Beach, fantastic weather and the prevailing SE wind just puffing enough to hold up the 1-1.5 metre waves for some great moves and noserides.
