The CDs
SurfCDs have been designed to operate primarily on a personal computer. This is because our CDs utilise the interactive facilities available with web browsing software installed on most computers on the planet and provides a means to connect to the Internet where necessary. This is something that is not readily available with other digital media, at present, on such a broad scale as the CD - and provides the organisers and sponsors of the events with a means of retaining contact with the competitors - long after the event is over.
The CD can be played on a DVD player connected to a PC or Mac in exactly the same way - however, a DVD player connected to a TV does not provide the interactivity or web browser software associated with a PC, nor does it allow Internet connection (see note below *). In this case, the DVD player will only recognise the actual photos (jpegs) stored in the various folders on the CD and will display them all - regardless of their function within the CD.
The photos on each of the original CDs can be printed, shared or saved to your hard disk if required.
Construction of the CDs is carried out usually in collaboration with the hosts of each contest, with the overall objective of producing a lasting and enjoyable photographic coverage of the event, as well as providing photos of as many of the contestants as possible - from almost the first heat to the last!
Can SurfCDs do this for you - or for your club or organisation?
At most events relating to surfing, there will be an array of photographers - professional and amateur - capturing the action around them.
SurfCDs compile these collections of photos into a series of easily viewable albums, which incorporate slideshows and individual photo save/share/print facilities.
The albums are tied together in a
website structure that can incorporate other sections - such as club,
history, sponsors, links and other information related
to the event - which form a comprehensive, interactive, digital
presentation designed to operate on just about any PC/Mac on the
planet. (IE 6.0 or better)
The end result is snippet of visual and informative history - that can be viewed and shared for years to come.
All photographers represented on the CDs
are individually acknowledged by way of email and/or website contact so
that viewers may order printable versions of any photos they wish to
obtain. The images on the CDs are great for the screen but may not provide a good printed image.
